microTERRA is pioneering sustainable food ingredients by harnessing the cleansing power of Lemna. This remarkable aquatic plant has the unique ability to clean water while simultaneously producing valuable functional ingredients such as Flora: Taste & Feel Ingredients. Flora increases sweetness perception while reducing sugar in formulations. It also helps mask unwanted notes from high-intensity sweeteners. This represents a market opportunity in a $40Bn industry.

We started in 2019 with the mission to transform our food system and protect our waterways. We have gained significant traction and recognition, winning prestigious international competitions from NatGeo, Echoing Green, and Columbia University. In 2021, participating in the IndieBio NY acceleration program led to a successful oversubscribed Seed Round, enabling the establishment of a robust ecosystem with advisors and mentors.
Notably, MicroTERRA stands out as the only Mexican startup chosen as a technology pioneer by the World Economic Forum, with our female CEO making it the sole LATAM-based startup in this category. In 2022, we were also recognized among the 100 most impactful worldwide by Norrsken.
