Specifically, we are looking for someone to expand the reach of our newest functional ingredient: MASK. We seek individuals aligned with our strategy and business mission.

The ideal candidate will drive the commercial growth of microTERRA and our ingredients (e.g., MASK) by developing and executing sales strategies and cultivating new relationships with potential clients. This role involves working closely with the R&D team to identify new uses and applications for our ingredients to expand our portfolio into different product categories. Additionally, you will design plans to increase profitability and market penetration for our ingredients.
What we do
microTERRA leads sustainable ingredient innovation by leveraging the purifying power of Lemna, a unique aquatic plant that cleans water while producing valuable functional ingredients like MASK. MASK is a natural liquid extract that masks the aftertaste of sweeteners, plant proteins, amino acids, caffeine, etc.
MASK is just the first of many ingredients to come, as microTERRA serves as a platform for developing sustainable functional ingredients.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify high-value business opportunities in the food ingredient industry.
- Build commercial relationships with potential clients, including distributors, flavor houses, co-packers, and national brands.
- Leverage established contacts to generate new leads and opportunities.
Key account management:
- Develop and manage a CRM to track potential clients and established industry relationships.
- Manage a portfolio of small to medium-sized clients.
- Prepare quotes and invoices.
- Negotiate pricing and close contracts.
- Lead co-development projects with clients, including visiting their facilities to understand their needs, helping them develop formulations using our ingredients, and ensuring their effectiveness.
- Create structured work plans for co-development projects with potential clients.
- Collaborate with microTERRA's formulation team to assist clients with formulations incorporating MASK.
- Ensure client satisfaction and provide top-notch customer service.
- Oversee sample and final product shipments to clients.
Market Research:
- Gather information about B2B clients to understand unmet needs and challenges in the market.
- Formulate hypotheses to validate through empathy interviews with clients, experts, and industry leaders.
- Systematically collect and analyze data on the food, beverage, and ingredient industries to understand market demands.
- Generate market segmentations based on market studies and conversations with clients and experts.
- Deeply understand competitors and market dynamics to evaluate our ingredients’ performance in terms of price, functionality, attributes, availability, etc.
Comunicación y Branding:
- Contribute to developing the commercial brand for our ingredients.
- Lead the organization of FoodHack events and strengthen the collaboration between microTERRA and the FoodTech community in Mexico.
Desired Profile
- Degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Prior sales experience in the food and beverage ingredient sector.
- Minimum 6 years of experience, ideally with B2B sales, or corporate partnerships, and project management.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills for leading internal and external projects.
- Immediate availability to work in Mexico City.
- Proactive personality with a solution-oriented approach.
- Practical, hands-on mindset.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects and tasks.
- Advanced English proficiency preferred
